History of zardozi

Zardozi’s work is a very old work. The foundation of this work was laid during the time of Mughal emperor Akbar. Zardozi means hand embroidery, it is said to be very old and very popular in India. This work is done in many cities of India like Farrukhabad, Lucknow, Kolkata, Bareilly, Bhopal, Chennai.

There are many different types of Zardosi, There are different types of Zardosi in every city. It is famous in different ways like I tell about one or two cities, In Lucknow, it is known as Chikankari and in Bareilly as Katdana (made of glass) in Jaipur as Gota Patti, in Farrukhabad as Dapka Nakshi Cutting Wale.

Like we tell you about the Zardozi work of Farrukhabad because I am also from farrukhabad. Zardozi work is done at a very high level in Farrukhabad, it is full of artisans in Zardozi i.e. hand embroidery, here the work is ready and supplied to many cities.

Like Delhi, Mumbai, Jaipur, Chennai, Agra, Bhopal, Ludhiana, more quantity of work is prepared. That is, Chandigarh, and most of the whole of India is supplied in every city. And there is also a lot of supply in foreign countries. It is known and worn in many countries like the UK, USA, Canada, UAE, Turkey, France, etc.

Everyone is crazy about its cleanliness and workmanship Zardozi’s work lehenga, dress, suit, saree, gown, are very nice and very expensive ready. Those people who have once worn a lehenga of embroidery on the hands of Zardozi, those people appreciate this work. Then no matter how heavy and expensive the dress is ready, this work is done very carefully.

The craftsman takes 3 to 4 years to learn this work, this work is done in the house of Farrukhabad. The dress of this embroidery is very heavy even in weight.
